One of the seven engineering marvels of the world

Yesterday we took a ride out over the Chesapeak bay bridge. It is 17 miles of tunnels and bridges over and under the ocean. It has a rather expensive toll booth. $12 one way! Today we played put put golf because it was just to hot to do anything. We tried to swim but the waves were just too strong. We strolled along the sand picking up shells and hermit crabs. Stacy and I got 6. Let me tell you there was a whole lot of shell swapping going on.
But my favorite thing I did today was hit a Salvation Army thrift store and found several cute skirts for $2 each. Mom says I'm a shopaholic, but I say I am a bargin hunter. I tried to explain to Stacy that some people go to thrift stores for the thrill of it. :)

Pro fisher

We went out deep sea fishing today. I loved it. I loved it before I won the pool for the biggest fish. Check out my whopper blue fish. It weighed a whole 10 oz. Stacy and I split the $34 because he paid for me to be in the pool.

My first time in the ocean

I'm coming to you live from Virginia City, VA. I have fallen in love with the ocean waves. I am thrilled to spend a whole week at the ocean and all of Virginia's history. VA is the mother of American history. Not only that, but my dad grew up on a naval base here. He took us to see the school he attended and the military house he used to live in. He mowed the yards there for .50 each front and back.

Here is the quilt I made for the Republican booth at the fair. I stayed up in the wee hours of the morning to finish it before we left for VA. They are going to raffle it to raise money.

I have not forgotten my trip to Philly, but my pics are on the computer at home. I will post them when I get back. This is my year for travel. I'm eating up experiences. Like today... we were looking for a Baptist church. We drove out into the country and finally found one. What I didn't notice was that there weren't any white people going in when I suggested it. I always wanted to experience a black church. :-D

We're going deep sea fishing and to the naval base tomorrow so hopefully I'll have more pics.

A treasure Hunt!

Today we had a fairwell party to Hailey, Bentley, and John Henry as they are going to start school next week. We had a treasure hunt, no nap, Lil Ceasars Pizza, party decor, lots of candy, water guns, and played in the pool. I severely regretted the no nap later in the day. This has been the longest day in the annals of babysitting!!!!
I used Word to find clip art pictures I could use for treasure hunt clues: such as a bird bath, the dog bowl, swing, picnic table, water hose, my mom, my car, and ulimately the green house. They found about 12 clues. I was surprised at how well they did on their search. I sorta/but not really hid the clues. The treasure chest was hidden in the green house. When they got there, they never saw the chest, they were still looking for clues. Inside were all the goodies my mom had supplied for the party, the toys, candy, decor etc... The chest was conveniently a former 20 yr old toy box.Dad put up stone looking skirting before he started the siding.

It looks likea totally different building doesn't it? This is the same wall. Don't know when the little ham got in there.

I'll be leaving Sunday for a week long trip with Concord youth to Philidelphia. I am so excited.

More repairs, and garden goods

My dad and grandpa started putting up log siding on our trailor this week. The kids have been helping. Its cute.
Mom and I have been picking several 5 gal. buckets of beans and canning. We also made spaghetti sauce and froze corn on the cob. Thank the Lord for a harvest
Four more days and I'm off to Philidelphia
